Privacy Policy
Effective: August 18, 2026
Scope and contact
This policy describes the information handled when you use The Bag at golfsetbuilder.com. The site does not require an account and does not process retailer payments. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to golfbagbuilder@gmail.com.
Information handled by the site
- Bag and preference storage. Compact club identifiers and quantities, filters, introduction status, and privacy choices are stored in your browser. Bag, introduction, and consent choices use persistent local storage and remain until you clear them or your browser data; current filters generally use session storage.
- Optional analytics. Google Analytics loads only after you accept optional analytics. It may use a first-party identifier and receive page activity, approximate location, and browser or device information. We disable advertising signals and remove query strings from the page location sent during configuration.
- Error, performance, and security information. Sentry, Vercel, and ordinary server infrastructure may process error details, request information, IP addresses, device or browser information, and page paths to operate, secure, and diagnose the site. Sentry is configured not to send default personal information, and sensitive query strings are removed where the application controls the event.
- Product images. Some product images are delivered from retailer, affiliate-network, or manufacturer content servers. When your browser requests a directly hosted image, that provider may receive ordinary network information such as your IP address, browser details, and the referring site.
- Listing reports. If you report a product, we store its internal identifier and a limited snapshot of first-party catalog fields, the report reason, optional note, page path, and a shortened browser user-agent value. The snapshot excludes affiliate URLs, prices, retailer identifiers, and Amazon-sourced content. Notes are free text and should not contain names, email addresses, or other personal information.
- Affiliate-link activity. When you choose a retailer link, the retailer or affiliate network receives the request and may receive the referring site, link identifiers, IP address, and browser information under its own privacy policy.
How information is used
We use the information described above to provide and remember your bag, respect your privacy choice, measure site usage when you consent, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, answer listing reports, maintain product data, and attribute eligible affiliate referrals.
We do not use Google Analytics advertising signals or sell personal information. You can keep optional analytics disabled without losing access to the builder.
Cookies, local storage, and your choices
The builder uses browser storage that is necessary to remember requested functionality such as your bag and privacy preference. Optional Google Analytics storage remains off unless you select “Accept analytics.”
Use the “Privacy choices” button on any page to accept, decline, or later withdraw analytics consent. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or enabled Do Not Track signal, the site keeps optional analytics off. You can also delete stored bag and consent data through your browser settings.
Service providers and other recipients
We use service providers for hosting and delivery (Vercel), database services (Supabase), error monitoring (Sentry), and consent-based analytics (Google Analytics). They process information under their respective terms, privacy notices, and account settings.
Learn more about how Google uses information from partner sites. Retailers and affiliate networks, including Amazon, Awin, and Rakuten Advertising, process information after you follow their links under their own notices.
Retention
Browser-stored bags and privacy choices remain on your device until you remove them. Automated cleanup deletes resolved product reports after 90 days and open product reports after 180 days. Analytics, monitoring, hosting, and security-log retention is controlled through the applicable provider settings and is reviewed to avoid keeping information longer than reasonably needed for the purposes above.
Access, deletion, and other rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask about, access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing. You may contact us using the email above. Because there are no user accounts, we may need enough information to locate a report or request while avoiding collection of unnecessary identity documents.
Nothing in this policy limits privacy rights that cannot legally be waived. Disabling analytics does not affect access to the site.
Children
The site is a general-audience golf shopping and planning tool and is not directed to children under 13. Please do not submit personal information about a child through a listing report.
Security and international processing
We use access controls, encrypted connections, limited server credentials, input validation, dependency monitoring, and data minimization appropriate to the information handled. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Providers may process information in the United States or other locations where they operate, subject to their contractual transfer mechanisms and applicable law.
Changes to this policy
When this policy materially changes, we will update the fixed effective date above. The date changes only when the policy is actually revised.
